Celebrating 10 years of this heart-led business and all the magical people and places I’ve connected to through it along the way! So thankful to every person who has joined me along the journey of healing, for all the ah-ha moments, laughter, lightness, vulnerable shares and heartfelt tears of release along the way. I’m immeasurably grateful for this anchor of expansive love throughout all the ups and downs of the last decade. And to all my teachers! Thank you!!
Ten years ago, I was a new mum, fresh on leave from my job in photography. Giving myself a Reiki treatment on the Summer Solstice, an invitation arose from my heart asking me to make my spiritual work my actual work. I had explored everything to do with soul just for the love of it. It was the hobby I was somewhat obsessed with. I would sit in mediumship development circles, read as much as I could, frequent crystal shops, attend lectures, journal my little heart out, meditate, and consult the tarot at every turn (I had a lot more time back then). I honestly could not have imagined then how much more love and joy would meet me on this path as I simply placed one foot in front of the other, wandering along the journey of Reiki. I’m so grateful our paths crossed and for all the connections made on this journey of soul!
I remember hearing one of my teachers say in his soft German accent, “with Reiki, we can always go deeper.” This has turned out to be entirely accurate. The depth and breadth of insights within the system Usui designed are immeasurable. Reiki is a treasure box which seems to have no bottom. Every time I teach, I discover another jewel, and even more poetry emerges. Reiki reflects to us who we are. As we journey deeper into ourselves, we journey deeper into Reiki. There isn’t really a difference between Self and Reiki. It is the energy of our True Self - a being of universal consciousness woven through the fabric of the Universe.
The greatest gift in this practice is strengthening our connection with the sacredness of own true nature and feeling that beautiful sense of belonging to life itself. In the West, we tend to compartmentalise ‘spirit’ or ‘soul’ as outside of the natural manifest world - we make it separate from nature and that framework makes nature less holy, less worthy of worship. When we look to the wisdom of Indigenous cultures from all across the world, we see that human beings have found the sacred within nature since the beginning of our time here. It’s when we started to over-conceptualise the divine that it became a disembodied ideology where nature is here and spirit is over there. Yet ancient wisdom shows us so profoundly that the natural world is a woven tapestry of spiritual energy. Nature is sacred and by that token, so is your body, and so are you. The divine is right here. The sacred pulses inside of you and all around you. Having practised Reiki for 21 years, with half of that time actively exploring it more deeply with clients, I have found Reiki to be a very integrative practice of embodying the soul. It’s allowed me to see the body as a sacred extension of the Earth, and myself as a sacred expression of nature, wildly alive. Reiki thins the veil of separation between ourselves and the rest of the Universe. The body is not just a vessel, but the way we experience precious human life. The body holds its own spiritual intelligence, its own sacred beingness. We just need to listen.
Ten years ago, when I lay down on the grass, closed my eyes, and tuned into my heart, I felt my soul as an energy above my body, out there in the ether somewhere. Now, I feel it as a glow that fills every cell of my body, radiating far beyond my edges. I used to connect to Reiki similarly - it was above me, then it was a beam of cosmic light which entered my crown and flowed through my chest. Now, when I connect, I feel it in every atom surrounding me. I hear it in the silence. It’s in the Earth. It’s in the stars. It’s in the sea. It’s in you. I feel it in my belly, in my feet, in my heart as the energetic flow of life itself. I breathe it into my pores. I breathe it out of my core. It is the pure light within every particle of life. I viscerally understand that Reiki is everywhere. It’s become a much more grounded practice of simply coming home to peace. Of living in harmony with my true nature. Of living in awe of life itself. It’s brought me home to this body. To this moment. To peace. Here. Embodied. What a sacred journey it truly is.
